Whole Person Assessments for Regional Centers in California
A Whole Person Assessment (WPA) is a detailed evaluation that looks at all aspects of a person’s life to understand their needs, strengths, and goals. It considers areas such as:
-
Health and medical needs
-
Daily living skills and personal care
-
Social and community involvement
-
Employment and education
-
Emotional and behavioral well-being
-
Communication and relationships
The goal of a WPA is to provide a complete picture of a person’s life, ensuring they receive the right supports to improve their well-being and independence.

Behavioral Early Intervention
We support young children, under the age of 3, who show signs of developmental delay or documented disabilities. This service is designed to provide structured, individualized, and evidence-based interventions during critical early years of brain development. It is aimed to promote skill development and reach milestones, reduce challenging behaviors that constantly interfere with daily life, and teaching and providing the tools for the caregiver and family members needed to help their child be successful in their daily living.

We use Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Intervention (NDBI), which is an early intervention approach, particularly for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). NDBI is an evidence-based therapy that combines principles from both developmental and behavioral approaches, often focusing on young children. It involves using natural, everyday activities and interactions as opportunities for learning, making it child-centered and focused on promoting communication, social, and cognitive skills. Since it's typically used in early childhood, it is classified as early intervention for developmental disorders, helping children develop skills in a supportive, naturalistic environment.
In the context of early intervention, NDBI focuses on improving behaviors and skills that are crucial for development at an early age, especially in communication, socialization, and adaptive behavior.
3
ABA Therapy
Our one-on-one therapy sessions use evidence-based, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions to help individuals develop essential skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and achieve their unique goals and passions.

ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is important because it helps people learn new skills and improve their everyday lives in a structured and effective way. It is especially helpful for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities, but it can be used for anyone who wants to learn and grow.

How Does ABA Help?

Teaches Important Life Skills – ABA helps people learn communication, social skills, self-care, and independent living skills.
Reduces Challenging Behaviors – It provides strategies to replace problem behaviors with positive, useful ones.
Encourages Positive Behaviors – ABA focuses on reinforcing good behaviors so they happen more often.
Breaks Skills into Small Steps – Instead of feeling overwhelmed, learners take one step at a time.
Provides Personalized Support – Every person is different, and ABA is tailored to fit each individual's needs.
Improves Quality of Life – By helping individuals gain independence and confidence, ABA allows them to thrive at home, school, and in the community.
4
Parent/Caregiver Behavioral Family Support
A Behavioral Support service that helps parents and caregivers learn strategies to better support the positive behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs of their child or family member.

Parent and caregiver training is one of the most important parts of ABA because it helps families learn how to support their loved one’s learning and behavior in everyday life. ABA therapy is most effective when skills are reinforced consistently across different settings, including home, school, and the community.

When caregivers are trained in ABA techniques, children make more progress, behaviors improve faster, and families feel more supported in their journey. It’s all about teamwork to help individuals reach their goals and live a meaningful life.

Key Reasons Parent & Caregiver Training is Essential:

Ensures Learning Happens Everywhere – ABA is not just for therapy sessions; parents and caregivers can apply strategies throughout the day to help reinforce skills in real-life situations.
Helps Reduce Challenging Behaviors – Caregivers learn how to respond effectively to problem behaviors and prevent them from escalating.
Teaches Important Life Skills – Parents and caregivers can help their child or family member learn communication, self-care, social skills, and independence.
Improves Consistency & Routine – When everyone in a child’s life uses the same strategies, learning happens faster, and behavior improves.
Empowers Families – Instead of feeling frustrated or unsure, parents gain confidence in how to support their child’s needs effectively.
Strengthens Family Relationships – By improving communication and reducing stress, ABA training helps create a more positive and connected family. environment.

Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) is a process used to understand why a person engages in certain behaviors and how their environment influences those behaviors. It is commonly used for individuals with displaying challenging behaviors that interfere with their daily living.

FBAs are a powerful tool for understanding behaviors, creating effective behavior plans, and ensuring individuals receive the right support to succeed at home, school, and in the community!

Key Reasons FBAs Are Essential:

Identifies the Root Cause of Behavior – Behaviors don’t happen for no apparent reason. An FBA helps determine if a behavior is happening because of attention, access, escape or sensory.
Creates an Effective Behavior Plan – Once we understand why a behavior happens, we can develop a personalized plan to reduce problem behaviors and increase positive ones.
Prevents Unnecessary Punishment – Instead of just disciplining behaviors, an FBA provides ways to teach better alternatives so the individual can still get their needs met in a positive way.
Improves Learning and Social Skills – When behaviors that interfere with learning are addressed, individuals can focus more on developing communication, self-regulation, and social skills.
Helps Caregivers and Educators Respond Effectively – Teachers, parents, and therapists learn the best ways to respond to behaviors without making them worse and how to provide the right support.
